The British Grand Prix

Wimbledon fortnight - two weeks where we can't always count on the weather, but we can count on the presence of Strawberries and Champagne! From the queues of people who sleep on the pavements of SW19 to members of the Royal entourage, Wimbledon provides enough play on its 20 grass courts to please everyone. Play begins at noon on the outside courts and at 1pm on the Centre and Number 1 courts.

Do
  • Dress to suit your hosts - The 'comfy classic' look is usually the name of the game.
  • Check out some of the outside courts, this is your chance to see some of the tennis stars of past and future close up.
  • Switch off your mobile phone. If Do-mi-so is heard during play you may be asked to leave.
  • Try and check out the royals and celebs in the Royal box, Sir Cliff Richard is always a favourite!
Don't
  • Wear you largest hat or have a big hair day - those behind you may not appreciate it.
  • Forget your sunglasses for those summer scorcher days.
  • Clap on double faults - even if this is the final with a British hopeful.
Directions:

Wimbledon is a mere 7 miles from central London, so trains and tubes are frequent. Take a District Line tube to Southfields or a train from Waterloo or Blackfriars to Wimbledon Station. You can also get there by car, although expect some queues and hefty parking charges.
