The British Grand Prix is the highlight of the motor racing calendar be it at Silverstone or Brands Hatch. As you approach the ground, you cannot fail to be hit with the roar of engines as they race round the track. The event takes place over 3 days, with practice sessions and qualifying on Friday and Saturday and then the big race on the Sunday. In 2002 the British Formula One Grand Prix stays at Silverstone.

Do
  • Bring some earplugs - the roar of the engines can make you feel like you have been is a disco for 6 hours.
  • Try to get on a pit tour on the practice days - this will allow you to see all the minor adjustments being made to the cars before the big race.
  • Bring some binoculars - this will give you a chance to view the cars from close up as they rush past.
  • Bring a radio or portable TV - the commentary can be invaluable in helping to pick out who's who.
Don't
  • Leave too late - the queues can be notorious.
  • Forget your towrope, if you are driving and the weather is bad!
Directions:

If you are going to Silverstone by car, expect queues. The approach roads are minor hence the delays. An alternative is to get on the park and ride over to the grandstand. If you want to arrive in style then helicopter is the ultimate transport. Not only do you get an aerial view of the track, but also of all of those stuck in their cars.
