Portofino overview

Perched on Italy's northwest coast, Portofino is one of the most perfect and photogenic fishing ports in the Mediterranean.
Portofino is a charming fishing village that has become a famous stop-off point for the yachting set. But although attracting tourists, this very pretty harbour settlement still exudes an air of tranquility, and is certainly a must for anyone visiting this stretch of coastline.
Its tiny harbour is filled with glamorous yachts, small ferries, and colourful fishing boats. Pretty fishermen's cottages with bright flower boxes surround the quaint harbour, their vivid reflections shimmer in the emerald water. In the centre of Portofino is a small square, lined with restaurants and bars that overlook the harbour. Forested hills rise steeply behind them to complete this idyllic scene.

getting there

BA from Gatwick to Pisa or easyjet to Genoa
The flight time from London Gatwick to Pisa is approximately 2 hours.
Transfer in mini coaches from Pisa to Portofino approximately 2-3 hours. Can stop on route at beach from lunch. Do bear in mind that transportation needs to be by mini-van if going up to the Splendido, as they do not allow coaches.

The Splendido Mare *****
The recent extension of the Hotel Splendido, is located in the heart of Portofino, a five-minute walk from the main hotel. The Splendido Mare blends perfectly into the façade of the village and overlooks the famous Piazzetta and the waterfront. Most guest rooms enjoy breathtaking views of the harbour and the Castle of San Giorgio.

Day one

Meet your hosts at London Gatwick, North Terminal, at the British Airways check in desk.

Departure of flight to Pisa.

Arrival into Pisa Airport.

Lunch at Restaurant Bagno Marechiaro in Forte dei Marmi.

Depart the restaurant and transfer to the Hotel Splendido.

Check in to the Hotel Splendido.

Time at leisure.

Pre dinner drinks on the pool terrace overlooking Portofino.

Welcome dinner in the Ginepro room, located in the Hotel

Splendido

Remainder of the evening at leisure – chance to check out the bars in Portofino! A short 10 minute walk.

Overnight at The Hotel Splendido.

Day two

Breakfast at leisure on the terrace.

Meet in the hotel lobby.

This morning you will experience Portofino and see the colourful houses and yachts in the harbour. Your guide will give you a brief history and show you where the rich and famous live! You will have some free time to peruse the shops.

Private boat transfer to Camogli, during the trip your guide will provide you with interesting facts on the region and the sights.

Arrival at Camogli, time at leisure.

Meet at the pier and walk to Restaurant Rosa for lunch.

Lunch at Restaurant Rosa.

Depart the restaurant and transfer to the Hotel Splendido

Afternoon at leisure, time to enjoy the facilities of the Hotel Splendido or explore Portofino.

Meet in the hotel lobby for your transfer to dinner.

Dinner and Drinks at Canevaro Castle.

Return transfer to the Hotel Splendido with drop off in Santa Margherita for those that wish to go clubbing.

Evening at leisure.

Overnight at The Hotel Splendido.

Day three

Breakfast at leisure on the terrace.

Check out of the hotel and meet in the hotel lobby.

Transfer to Pisa.

Arrival in Pisa.

Lunch at L'Europeo.

Time at leisure to view the main sights of Pisa. Depart Pisa and transfer directly to the airport.

Arrive Pisa airport and check in for flight to London Gatwick.

Departure of flight.

Arrival at London Gatwick North Terminal.

An indication of the likely cost of the programme as outlined above is £1,100.00 p/p + UK VAT based on the following criteria:

A group of 50 people.

Travel in May 2009.

Economy class air travel on British Airways.

Sharing twin accommodation.

All activities mentioned above are included.

The group would be accompanied by one eventwise travel director.
