full description
Ideally located close to St. Paul's Cathedral, the Stationers' Hall offers an exclusive range of charming historic reception rooms, each of individual character. The rooms lead out in to a beautifully renovated, private garden, which clients can also make use of when hiring the venue. However, if the weather is being unkind then additional space is always available inside.
The Livery Hall is the largest of the function rooms. Gleaming oak flooring and carved oak panelling originating from the 1600s together with huge stained glass windows give this room a smart and impressive feel. A light and airy room ideal for larger day and evening events.
The huge stained glass windows, backlit for evening events, depict William Shakespeare, William Caxton, St Cecelia, William Tynedale & Archbishop Cranmer. The larger north window purports to display Edward IV and his Queen, Elizabeth Woodville, being shown a proof by William Caxton.
At the south end there is a carved screen, surmounted by a minstrels' gallery, which may be used for small bands or choirs.
The Court room is popular for smaller meetings, receptions and as a lunch area for larger events taking place in the Hall.
It overlooks the garden and connected by a small balcony and wrought iron staircase. Both areas are particularly popular during the summer months.
The recently redeveloped Garden is a private and secluded space which all clients may make use of when hiring the hall. Alternatively if the weather is inclement then additional space inside is always available.
The Garden is dominated by an enormous plane tree which marks the spot where heretical books, condemned by the ecclesiastical authorities, were burnt in Tudor times.
Connected by a wrought iron staircase to the Court room but with easy access to the Hall and Stock room, the Garden is available for barbeques, receptions, cocktail parties and photography at all times.
