full description
Grass lawns and York stone paving surround a central oval in the V&A's large courtyard garden. In the summer glass planters containing lemon trees are stylishly placed around the garden while the building's walls are adorned with intense blue hydrangeas and dahlias of orange flowers and dark purple foliage. The stunning design allows the garden to be used both as a simple courtyard and as a stage set for display, theatre, parties and events. At night the garden is dramatically transformed with lighting specially created by Patrick Woodroffe, lighting designer for the Rolling Stones.
The spectacular domed entrance to the Victoria and Albert Museum is one of London's most elegant and impressive settings for receptions, dinners and dinner-dances. With its soaring domed ceiling, classical architecture and marble floors, all complemented by Dale Chihuly's massive blue and green glass chandelier, the Dome provides a unique backdrop for entertaining.
The largest and undoubtedly the most prestigious space in the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Raphael gallery houses some of the most important surviving examples of Renaissance art in the world.
The seven Raphael cartoons depict scenes from the Bible and date from 1516. Complemented at one end of the gallery by a gilded Spanish altarpiece, they lend an imposing backdrop to drinks receptions, dinners, concerts and award presentations.
